On why experts shouldn’t talk for people - II

Let me state two things.

First, mobile advertisers and cellular operators, at least as of now, give you the option of opting out of mobile advertisements. I, like every other mobile user, believe that it will stay that way.

Second, don’t ever predict things. Operators know their customers too well to do any such stupid thing like making mobile adverts compulsory. They know that customers can switch to some other network at the flick of a finger if they want to. So, operators will be careful enough not to push their customers too far to make them take a strong decision against them.

I’m done. Now you can read what David Haskin said about ‘the demon’ that is mobile advertising and why I said what I said in the beginning.

PS: Now don’t come up with another post which states that mobile operators around the globe will conspire against mobile users and make mobile ads compulsory, thereby leaving them with no choice or some crap like that. If you actually think that way, contact Mr. Steven Spielberg and get your script ready for the next sci-fi movie.

PPS: I already wrote a rebuttal for an expert who ‘claimed’ something similar. Now, here comes another. Let me see how long this series goes!

Latin-Pak enters mobile marketing

Latin-Pak, a well-known Hispanic direct marketing company based in California, is the latest entrant into the big, happening world of mobile marketing. With over 12 years of direct marketing experience, Latin-Pak decided that it’s about time it tried its hands on mobile marketing. Latin-Pak plans to reach its target customers through text messaging (SMS), MMS, and WAP. Latin-Pak is pretty confident that it will be able to pull of some good results in its mobile marketing venture and the reasons are not hard to find.

Latin-Pak’s mobile database consists of 2.5 million mobile users who are open to mobile adverts.

Hispanics are among the most active mobile users in the U.S.A. – says a research firm.

Hispanics spend a good deal of time using services such as SMS and MMS apart from talking, which is a huge plus for mobile marketers.

Mobile phone is the primary mode of communication for more than 30% of Hispanics and they have it all the time, which makes it perfect for mobile marketers.

Well; seems Latin-Pak is in for a smooth ride. It’ll be interesting to keep track of its progress in the coming days. Well; that’s what I’m supposed to do; right?

Blyk to enter the Dutch market

Few people in the world will be as happy as Pekka Ala Pietila and Antti Ohrling, the founders of Blyk. Blyk, the well known ad-funded mobile phone network, is planning to expand its territory into the Dutch market and has laid a strong foundation for that in the form of additional funding from Goldman Sachs and Kuwait’s Industrial Financial Investments Company.

Both Goldman Sachs and Industrial Financial Investments Company think Blyk has a great chance in the Dutch market and have provided with a large additional funding to support its operations. Not just that, both these companies have also got a considerable stake in Blyk, which makes Blyk even stronger financially.

In case you don’t know, Blyk stormed into the limelight by offering free text messages and free talk time to customers who opted to receive mobile adverts in their mobile phones. Blyk will host its mobile phone network in the Netherlands through Vodafone. The service is expected to be launched later this year.
