SMaSh Technologies - Keeping it simple with text messaging

What’s up with university grads and the technology field? I mean, seriously, there seems to be a lot of tech start-ups founded by university graduates these days, most of which are very good initiatives with solid ideas. Speaking of which, I’ve got to tell you about SMaSh Technologies, founded by Eric Boduch and Chanu Damarla, Carnegie Mellon University graduates.

SMaSh Technologies helps small retailers reach out to their customers more effectively, using text messaging facility. Text messaging, needless to say, seems to be the buzzword among mobile users these days and the firm has come up with an advertising option based on that. With this, small retailers can get a special mobile code upon texting which the customer could get more details about the services offered by the retailer. This could be used by anyone with minimal effort. Imagine – you come across a unit for rent in an apartment and all you need to do is simply send a text message to a particular code. You’ll get the info you want through a text message. This could be a great service for small retailers who want to reach out to their target customers more effectively. This actually takes conventional advertising like a billboard for example to the next level, by providing an opportunity for the customer to respond to it easily. Don’t you feel like saying “nice work fellas”?
