As the next step in its quest for domination in the mobile advertising industry, Yahoo might soon start sending text message ads to mobile users. It is all set to announce a partnership with a startup in Silicon Valley (where else?) called 4INFO. Yahoo believes that 4INFO’s technology will be very helpful in its text message advertising campaigns.
Yahoo is planning to send mobile content including news, sports updates, horoscopes, weather forecasts, and other things via text messages. The total number of characters allowed in a text message is 160. Out of this, 40 characters will be dedicated to advertisements.
The point, however, is, they seem to have an interesting deal. Yahoo will send mobile content backed up with mobile ads and 4INFO will try to send ads through its own mobile advertising network. The revenue will be split 60-40 between them and whoever managed to make a sale will walk away with 60% of the share. How about that?

Preparing a launch pad for its Android platform seems to be the most important thing on Google’s mind these days. As I had already mentioned, the Microsoft-Yahoo deal is a goner now and Google is one happy company. So, it’s only concern right now is to make Android a success. And its latest $500 million deal with Clearwire speaks volumes about its passion to make Android a success.
Google has announced that it will invest $500 million to help Clearwire, the erstwhile-popular wireless internet provider, find its mark in the market again. This is part of the deal made by Google, Intel, Comcast, Bright House Networks, and Time Warner Cable to invest a collective amount of $3.2 billion to unite two of the biggest wireless broadband business in the market today – Sprint Nextel and Clearwire.
Clearwire, meanwhile, will work on building the first nationwide WiMax network in the country. As you know, WiMax transfers data way faster than 3G wireless networks that we have today. So, with a nationwide WiMax network, mobile users will be able to access multimedia content on their mobile phones easily and this will in turn give Google a chance to serve a wide range of mobile content backed with ads.
Also, as expected, Clearwire will now officially join the league of companies that support Android platform. As of now, the list of companies that support Google Android is pretty big and Google is trying everything in its power to make Android a success.
When Google came up with the idea of Android, some people thought it would be a bumpy ride for Google, as the market is currently ruled by Symbian OS, Windows Live Mobile, and Apple iPhone. Well, as of now, it looks like Google is ready to face the competition. What do you say?

In case you don’t know YuuZoo, here’s a small piece of info. YuuZoo is backed and financed by a number of high profile executives from Nokia, Ogilvy & Mather, and Ericsson and is famous world over.

CNET Networks in the U.K. has decided to make its move into the mobile world and it has started quite well by mobilizing two of its famous sites – cnet.co.uk and gamespot.co.uk. From now on, you can access both these sites any time you want, if you have an internet enabled mobile phone.
You will be able to access tons of content from both these sites, including but not limited to news and gadget reviews. CNET Network currently has around 10 million users and it hopes to reach out to them even more effectively through these mobile sites. CNET has joined hands with Nokia’s mobile portal and operator 3 to widen its prospects in the mobile world. The mobile sites of CNET will be managed by MoMac.
This announcement from CNET could not have come at a better time, as mobile industry right now is growing at a fast pace. CNET Network said that the time is ripe for experimenting with mobile content and since U.K. is considered one of the biggest markets for mobile internet, it just makes it even better. The main reason behind this move, according to CNET, is to provide value-added service to its current users and to attract more tech-savvy users who look for information on the move, right on their mobile phone.
CNET has also announced that it will come up with the mobile version of three of its sites – silicon.com, zdnet.com, and SmartPlanet.
I think this is a great move from CNET. Coming at a time when the habit of surfing the web on mobile phones is on the rise, this move might enable CNET to grab a large market share when the market grows further.
